The Wonder of Words - Effective Communication in Early Years
Course Description
This exciting new session explores the importance of communication and developing language skills with young children and promotes positive interactions between adults and children. It links to all aspects of children's learning and development. Candidates will be encouraged to participate in activities to promote their own skills and further develop their knowledge and understanding of effective communication and participation. It provides an indepth look at encouraging this key aspect of children's development in a fresh, fun, practical way.
This session can be delivered over 1 x 3hr, 2 x 3hr or 1 x 6hr/full day session.
Aims and Objectives
To consider the importance of effective communication with children and how this supports all aspects of a child's social, emotional development and learning e.g behaviour.
To promote positive interactions between adults and children.
To explore how communication supports effective learning through body language and gesturing.
To develop a practical understanding of interacting with children and a range of positive communication skills and fresh ideas.
To promote listening and speaking skills with young children
To explore the use of effective resources to promote learning development.
To underline the importance of observation and record keeping to support effective planning.
To consider the importance of parents as partners in children's learning and development.
