Creative ideas for Messy Play
Course Description
This session underlines the importance of messy play in promoting personal, social and emotional development of children. This session offers a creeative and practical approach supporting and linking to communication, numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world and much more! New exciting activities combined with some firm favourites will give practioners an interactive fresh approach to messy play and the creative development of young children.
This session can be delivered over 1 x 3hr, 2 x 3hr or 1 x 6hr / full day sessions.
Aims and Objectives
To consider the value of messy play in a principled play based approach.
To consider how messy play offers opportunities for children to develop communication and language skills through mark making and the process of representation.
To develop practioners knowledge of how messy play promotes children's curiosity and a positive approach to new sensory experiences.
To promote awareness of children's cognitive development through messy play.
To encourage a "child centered" approach in settings by supporting a creative process for children without focusing on an end product.
To consider ways we can promote opportunities for children to mould and manipulate a wide range of materials encouraging positive relationships.
To provide a wide range of innovative practical ideas for messy play which promote and support enabling environments.
