Writing Effective Safeguarding Children and E-Safety Policies

Course Description

This session is aimed at managers, designated child protection officers, childminders and practitioners who have responibility for writing and updating safeguarding policies.  The EYFS sets out clear requirements on what should be included in an effective safeguarding policy and this session covers the importance of policies in protecting children effectively, working with parents and how to evaluate existing polices and update them according to the requirements which need to be met. The session provides links to both national and Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) procecdures. It also covers the important area of E-safety and provides practical guidance for settings

This course is delivered over 1 x 3hr session

Aims and Objectives

To consider the importance of an effective safeguarding policy in protecting children

To consider the importance of an effective safeguarding policy for safe practice including E-safety

To develop a practical understanding of E-Safety in settings

To understand how to use safeguarding policies effectively with parents

To develop an understanding of what a policy should include linked closely to EYFS guidelines and requirements

How to link your policy correctly to national guidance and LSCB procedures

To go through a sample policy and self evaluate existing policies identifying where action is needed to up date

To allow time to draft updated policies for settings with on hand guidance if needed
