Using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
Course Description
This session aims to provide a basic awareness of one of the key processes in Integrated Working - the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the pratice implications for Early years settings and professionals. It underlines the importance of integrated working and will give workers an understanding of the aims, purpose and principles of the CAF and how it can be used to meet childrens' needs more effectively at an earlier stage. The session will prepare workers to undertake a CAF and will link to further training provided by individual local authorities, which will develop their knowledge and skills further and link to internal procedures within thier own areas. There will be opportunity for questions and answers during and at the end of the session
The session is delivered over a 1 x 3hr session
Aims and Objectives
To understand the background to CAF - where has it come from?
To understand the rationale for the CAf and how it fits in with integrated working
To cover the aims of and principles underpinning the CAF
To develop an understanding of how to undertake a CAF assessment
To consider the impact of the CAF on early years settings and consider relevant practial scenarios
To have a knowledge of eCAF
To discuss the issue of consent and understand "Information Sharing"
To have a basic awareness of the lead professional role
To be aware of the development of local service directories
