Safeguarding Children - A Refresher

Course Description

This session provides a basic short refresher for those who feel they need to update but candidates must have completed the Safeguarding Children course in full within the last two years.  It is useful to top up prior to an inspection containing additional resources and the latest updates to national and regional procedures.

The course is delivered over 1 x 3hr half day or evening session

 

 

Aims and Objectives

It provides a summary of the key signs and symptoms of concern and possible abuse building on existing knowledge from the full Safeguarding session.  It links to up to date research findings on signs of abuse and additional resources are included.

It refreshes links to the Early Years Foundation Stage and meeting the welfare requirements 

To provide a basic awareness of Integrated Working with particular reference to Information Sharing Guidance, the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and its rationale linked to local thresholds of need guidance

To refresh on the importance of safe practice and professional boundaries

To refresh on accurate effective record keeping - methods and principles

To up date on the national guidance "What to do if you are worried a child is being abused" (2006)

To link to and be able to follow  Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) procedures confidently, including responding to allegations against workers

(Optional: the session can be adapted to include how to update Safeguarding Policies)
