Course Description

This session highlights the importance of outdoor play in supporting the learning and development of children and to promote healthy excersise.  Workers will be encouraged to explore a wide range of activities and resources which are inexpensive and cost effective which promote learning and development including the use of outdoor resource boxes. The session also covers how we can encourage exercise through outdoor play.  It is a fun, practical session and candidates will take away lots of ideas which can be adapted and implemented in early years settings.  The session provides strong links to meeting EYFS requirements.

This session can be delivered over 1 x 3hr, 2 x 3hr or 1 x 6hr / full day sessions.

Aims and Objectives

To consider the importance of physical exercise in the development and well being of children.

To develop workers knowledge and understanding of the components of a healthy lifestyle.

To develop an awareness of mental, physical and personal space.

To encourage children and adults to participate in outdoor play - this builds children's self esteem and confidence.

To explore effective communication, participation and self reliance whilst taking part in outdoor play activities.

To explore a wide and varied range of creative outdoor play activities including the effective use of musical instruments in outdoor areas and outdoor resouces boxes which link to all aspects of children's learning and development.
