Parent Play
Course Description
Parent play is a fun parenting course for children under five, which can be run over 4 - 7 weeks.
It focuses on meeting the needs of parents and carers basic understanding of children's social and emotional development, as well as aspects of creative play, learning and development. It is based on informal group discussions followed by parents and children sharing exciting messy play time together. Parent play has been described to be accesible to a wide audience. Parent play workshops includes session plans in an easy to use format with interactive activities and discussion points.
Aims and Objectives
Recharging your batteries - helping parents to recognise the importance of taking care of their own needs too.
Builds self esteem - exploring ways practically of showing children affection, praise and encouragement and building self confidence and self worth.
I'm all ears - developing effective listening skills.
It's more than words - exploring the effects of labelling, shouting and saying sorry.
Why play - inspiring parents to enjoy sharing play with their children.
Balancing boundaries - considering the reasons behind behaviour and strategies to set boundaries to deal with challenging behaviour consistently positively and appropriately.
Remember Remember! - Discussing the importance of building positive memories and valuing times together
Optional session: Responding to basic health needs - recognising key signs and symptoms of childhood illness and how to respond quickly and effectively
