Environmental Print - Words around us

Course Description

This session provides a practical, fresh approach and theoretical insight into developing a "print rich" environment and how the words and signs around us can be used creatively to promote children's learning and development.

This session is delivered over 2 x 3hr or 1 full day session.

Aims and Objectives

To consider our awareness of the variety and quality of print around us.

To develop an understanding of how this can be used creatively to promote children's learning and development.

To consider the positive effects of environmental print on pre-literacy skills.

To recognise the valuable contribution that parents can make towards pre-literacy skills.

To consider the positive impact and multi cultural prints including bi-lingual text and the opportunity to promote equality and diversity.

To develop an understanding of how print can be used to empower all children, including those with special educational needs.
